Dear Terri: Hi! I am a first year law student. You might be interested in knowing that the 9th circuit's decision in Playboy Enterprise's lawsuit against you was required reading for my Trademark Law class. I enjoyed reading the case (well, as much as anyone can enjoy a required reading assignment). So then I thought I would check out your website and see how much you changed it. I was happy to see that you still identify yourself the 1981 playmate of the year. I liked the judge's statements that awards hould be identified with the people who receive them. You go, girl! My Trademark Law professor says that Playboy Enterprises has a reputation for being "litigious", so I hope you did not take the suit personally. P.S. Terri, I remember when you first came on board with Playboy. Right then and there with the first issue, I knew you were to be Playmate of the Year. I remember photographing Monique St. Pierre and a few playmates while I was covering the Wild World of Sports at Mamouth Mountain. Over the years I have worked with quite a few Playmates. One favorite being Barbara Moore a nice friend. When asked who my favorite playmate was, I had to tell the truth, There were three Kathy Showers and Terri Welles and a dear close friend Terri Doss. Just got back from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ran into a friend of yours, Cindy Nakagawa, and she t**** me I had to check out your website. I literally came across this site by accident. I don't imagine the real Terri Welles will actually read this or respond. I am a lawyer in Philly. I was in college when she was a centerfold. We all had debates over who the hottest playmate was, and I always said she was. I think I even remember her in some sci-fi movie with, hmm, Albert Finney? She was in it for the first couple minutes.
